Here are just a few of the most frequently asked questions and answers. Please do contact us should you require further guidance.

 

Q- Do I need a provisional licence before I can start learning to drive?

A- In order to drive on UK public roads you do need a valid provisional driving licence. This is obtained from DVLA. You can apply online or by post.

Q- How old do I need to be to start?

A- You need to be 17 years of age (or 16 years of age if you receive the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

Q- Do I need to pass my theory test before I can drive?

A- No, you can start learning to drive once you are of the correct age and in receipt of a valid provisional licence.

Q- Do I need to pass a theeory test before I can take a practical test?

A- Yes. You are unable to book a practical driving test until you have passed your theory test.

Q- How long do I have on a theory test certificate?

A- You have two years from the date that you pass your theory test to pass a practical test, otherwise you need to retake and pass your theory test again.

Q- How many hours will I need to learn?

A- This is a very difficult question to answer. Every person is different and learns at a different pace. Factors that make a difference include how long your lessons are, how frequent they are, whether you are able to practice between lessons, aswell as other things such as how easily you find practical skills. Rest assured, here at Learn2Drive your Instructor will use your time wisely to minimise how many hours you take.
